Other times I may know what I’m eating, but have no idea what it might be doing to my body. I’ve discovered 4 foods that slipped past my mind every time I ate them. And they had the potential to make me fat if I didn’t catch them.
1. PAM spray: I never knew exactly what PAM was until a few months ago when I looked it up. I used to think it was just that stuff that makes pans not sticky anymore. Turns out it is canola oil. Canola oil turns rancid very quickly when applied to heat, which creates a small, but damaging amount of trans fats. Trans fats can’t be used by our bodies, so they end up being stored in fat cells.
2.Salad Dressings: Most store-bought salad dressings I have found use a soybean oil base. Soybean oil is often partially hydrogenated, which is just a synonym for trans fats. And trans fats, of course, get stored as fat.
3.Tropical fruits: Even though fruits are natural, tropical fruits like pineapples and melons have a lot of sugar in them. The sugar is natural, but it still results in an insulin spike, which can lead to weight gain.
4.Whole wheat bread: whole grains contain phytates, glutens, and lectins that result in inflammation and mess up the immune and digestive sytems. One slice of whole wheat bread will result in the same insulin release as a slice of white bread. This means that whole grain bread will make me just as fat as white bread will.
Hope this was a quick insight, take care,
Austin
